چکیده

To model possible suggested changes in TCP window adap tation in response to randomized feedback, such as ECN, we formulate a generalized verslon of the TCP congestion avoidance algorithm. We first consider multiple such generalized TCP flows sharing a bottleneck Mer under the Assured Service model and use a Rxed point technique to obtain the mean window sizes and throughputs for the TCP flows. To further study how changes in the adaptation algorithm affect the variability in the throughput, we use an analytical-eum-numerical technique to derive the window distribution (and related statistics) of a single generalized flow under state-dependent randomized congestion feedback.

Predicting bottleneck bandwidth sharing by generalized TCP flows

The paper presents a technique for computing the individual throughputs and the average queue occupancy when multiple TCP connections share a single bottleneck buffer. The bottleneck buffer is assumed to perform congestion feedback via randomized packet marking or drops. We first present a fixed point-based analytical technique to compute the mean congestion window sizes, the mean queue occupan...

Rate-Adjustment Algorithm for Aggregate TCP Congestion-Control

The TCP congestion-control mechanism is an algorithm designed to probe the available bandwidth of the network path that TCP packets traverse. However, it is wellknown that the TCP congestion-control mechanism does not perform well on networks with a large bandwidth-delay product due to the slow dynamics in adapting its congestion window, especially for short-lived flows. One promising solution ...

TCP-Ho: A Congestion Control Algorithm with Design and Performance Evaluation

A critical design issue of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is its congestion control that allows the protocol to adjust the endto-end communication rate based on the detection of packet loss. However, TCP congestion control may function poorly during its slow start and congestion avoidance phases. This is because TCP sends bursts of packets with the fast window increase and the ACK-clock ba...

Performance Analysis of TCP with Nonpersistent Sessions

Most analytical models of TCP assume that the sessions have an infinite amount of data to transmit. In practice, it is well known that sessions arrive, transfer a finite amount of data and depart. This paper is about an analytical model for calculating the average bandwidth shares obtained by Additive Increase Multiplicative Decrease (AIMD) controlled ephemeral sessions that share a single (bot...

Dynamic Vegas: A Competitive Congestion Control Strategy

TCP Vegas is regarded as balanced congestion control strategy, however, shortcomings such as low bandwidth utilization and not gain fairness when sharing link with TCP Reno. We reinvestigate these issues and propose a modification strategy called Dynamic Vegas, which changes initial TCP Vegas’ in slow start and congestion avoidance phase. It dynamically chooses slow start algorithm and adjust d...
